Experience a Golf Safari in South Africa
Playing golf in South Africa belongs on every golfer’s bucket list
Few destinations on earth can match what South Africa delivers to the traveling golfer. Championship courses designed by legends of the game. Fairways framed by dramatic mountain ranges, sweeping ocean views,
and the untamed African bush. World-class cuisine, exceptional wines, and a warmth of hospitality that is uniquely South African.
But a South African golf safari is about far more than tee times. It is the elephant grazing beyond the 18th green at Leopard Creek. It is sundowners on the Cape Peninsula after a morning round at one of the world’s most scenic courses. It is the clinking of glasses filled with Stellenbosch’s finest, the salt air of the Atlantic, and the electric feeling of being somewhere truly extraordinary.
South Africa is not simply a great golf destination – it is one of the great travel destinations on earth. The golf just makes it perfect.

Take a South African golf safari with Safari Curators
South Africa is a golf traveller’s dream. World-class courses at every turn, iconic designers, near-perfect weather year-round, and a backdrop that no other golf destination on earth can rival. Our South African golf safaris are crafted to deliver exceptional play alongside experiences that stay with you long after the final putt — dramatic Cape scenery, game drives in premier wildlife reserves, vineyard lunches in the Winelands, and the kind of warm, unhurried hospitality that defines travel in this extraordinary country.
Play Where the Pros Do
Tee off at Leopard Creek, perched on the banks of the Crocodile River with Kruger National Park as your boundary fence. Test your game on layouts designed by Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. Take on championship courses at Pearl Valley, Arabella, Fancourt, and the revered St Francis Links. Many of South Africa’s finest courses sit alongside world-class lodges and resorts, meaning your evenings are every bit as impressive as your days on the fairway.
Beyond the Fairway
A Safari Curators golf safari is never just about the golf. Combine your rounds with thrilling wildlife safaris in Kruger, intimate wine tastings in Stellenbosch, or scenic coastal drives along the legendary Garden Route. Whether you’re seeking a purist golf itinerary or a seamless blend of luxury safari and championship golf, every experience we create is fully tailored to you.
Two Regions, Endless Possibilities
South Africa’s finest golf clusters around two outstanding regions. In the northeast, Leopard Creek and the greater Kruger area offer the ultimate golf safari — championship golf paired with Big Five game drives and luxury bush lodges. In the southwest, the Cape Town and Garden Route corridor delivers an unrivalled combination of premier courses, Winelands experiences, coastal scenery, and refined luxury, with Pearl Valley, Arabella, Fancourt, and St Francis Links among the highlights. Can’t choose? Neither can we — which is why our signature South Africa Golf Safari weaves the very best of both regions into one seamless, tailored journey. Golf, wildlife, wine, and coastline — all in one unforgettable trip.

Play world-class layouts, then swap your clubs for a game drive and the chance to encounter the Big Five. While exceptional golf can be found across the country, certain courses and destinations stand apart. These are our favourites.

Fancourt
George, Garden Route
Nestled beneath the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains on the Garden Route, just seven miles from George Airport, Fancourt is South Africa’s most complete luxury golf resort. Three championship courses, including The Links, consistently ranked as Africa’s premier course, are complemented by a world-class golf academy, two five-star hotels, an exceptional spa, and a collection of outstanding dining venues. For golfers seeking the very pinnacle of course quality combined with resort comfort, Fancourt is in a class of its own.

Pearl Valley
Paarl, Cape Winelands
Set across a breathtaking 500-acre estate in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Pearl Valley is a Jack Nicklaus Signature course of rare beauty and championship pedigree. Opened in 2003 with an exhibition match between Nicklaus himself and South African legend Gary Player, the course weaves through vineyards and fynbos beneath a spectacular mountain backdrop, a round that is as visually stunning as it is technically demanding.

Leopard Creek
Malelane, Mpumalanga
There is nowhere quite like Leopard Creek. Bordering Kruger National Park along the banks of the Crocodile River, this exclusive private club offers a golf experience that exists entirely on its own terms. Elephant, hippo, crocodile, and an abundance of wildlife are ever-present companions, while the course itself consistently ranks among the finest on the continent. A round at Leopard Creek is not simply great golf — it is one of the great experiences in travel, full stop.

Arabella
Hermanus, Western Cape
Designed by Peter Matkovich and set in one of the world’s most ecologically extraordinary regions, Arabella commands sweeping views of the Kogelberg Mountains and the Klein River Lagoon. Since opening, it has held a consistent place among South Africa’s top ten courses, praised for its thoughtful routing, dramatic scenery, and genuine championship challenge. Hermanus itself, famous as one of the world’s premier whale-watching destinations, makes Arabella a natural addition to any Cape itinerary.

St Francis Links
St Francis Bay, Eastern Cape
Opened in 2007 and immediately honoured as South Africa’s Best New Course, St Francis Links is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design that has remained a fixture in the country’s top ten ever since. While not a traditional links in the coastal sense, the course exhibits all the hallmarks of the style — rugged sandy turf, firm and fast fairways, wide angles of play, and an exhilarating exposure to the elements — tempered by tree-lined stretches and strategic water hazards that add variety and depth to every round. It is also home to our Golf Expert and Tour Leader Ernest Bendeman, who knows every blade of grass on this remarkable course.
